Responding to a Request: General Training Video
The video below walks you through the step-by-step process of responding to a CarePortal request, making it easy to understand how to offer support and meet real needs in your community!
Yes, I Can Help!
Clicking the Yes, I Can Help! button takes you to the specific public page for this request, where you or your responders will have the ability to commit to the items requested by the requesting agency worker, commit to pray for the family, and sign up to follow this request to receive updates about new actions taken for the request.

👉 How to Respond to a CarePortal Request 👈
Follow
The Follow feature allows you to receive email updates for a specific request. When you Follow a request, you receive email notifications when a church responds, when the caseworker updates the request, and when the request is closed. If you respond to a request, you automatically Follow the request. This ensures that you receive all updates for that request after you have responded!
Pray
The Pray feature allows you to take a physical action to symbolize the unseen spiritual activity of prayer. We recognize that, as citizens of the Kingdom of God, where results and fruit cannot always be counted by tangible measures, prayer is our most important work!
Committing to Pray also allows us to have some tangible measure to document that the children and families represented in the requests are being lifted up in prayer, providing a source of encouragement to the caseworkers and your local Network Leaders working together on behalf of these children.
Share
This button allows anyone to promote and advocate for this request in other ways, so more people can learn about the opportunity to respond and help. Whether the request is being shared via social media or directly in an email to specific leaders or teams of people, anyone who sees the request and wants to respond will be guided through an easy process of creating a free CarePortal account and responding to the request.
Engage My Team
The Engage My Team feature is a Church Leader action that will send the request details and a personal encouragement or note to their Response Team(s). After a team has been engaged, this feature can also be used to share additional updates related to the request. For more information regarding Response Teams, check out this article.
Once you've engaged your team, you can view the previous message history using the View Message History button.
Make a Post in the Activity Feed
The Activity Feed allows you to interact with the CarePortal community by responding to requests, asking questions, and offering prayer. It also displays a timeline of activity with the ability to post public, threaded replies. Before sharing, be sure your post aligns with CarePortal’s Community Guidelines, as posts that don’t meet these standards may be removed.
Network
The Network section of the Request Card is designed to allow you to connect with other local Response Teams that were notified of the request. You can send a message by clicking the Contact button, selecting a church Response Team from the list, or by clicking on an icon within the map.
Your message, along with your personal information, will be sent to the corresponding Primary Point Person and Team Leader(s) via email.
Verify My Participation
Once your church has responded to a request, you’ll see the Verify My Participation button under the More Actions section on the request card.
This feature allows you to confirm your church’s involvement in meeting the request and should be completed after you've connected with the caseworker or family and delivered the items. Verifying while the request is still open will ping the Agency Worker and give them a shortcut to close the request; However, you’ll also be able to verify your participation even after the request has been closed.
💡 Note: Verifying your participation is required for your church to receive credit for meeting the request, including updates to your Requests Met, Economic Impact, and Children Served metrics.
To view requests that still need verification:
-
Go to the Request History tab from the sidebar menu.
-
Click on the Requests to Verify tab at the top of the table.
Any requests that your church has responded to, either by providing items or through Taking the Lead, will appear here until they’ve been successfully verified.
