Champion Dashboard Intro
Your Dashboard
The dashboard is the primary page you'll land on when you log in. It shows an overview of your organization's CarePortal activity and impact, and includes your organization's custom links — such as the responder sign-up form, your organization's public page, and iframe code to embed into your organization's website.
Tip: Community Champions receive email notifications when CarePortal requests are submitted or approved within their set Response Team Radius. This helps you stay aware of nearby needs without having to check the platform constantly.
Responder sign-up form
The Responder sign-up form is one of two ways for responders to sign up. Responders can also sign up by contacting a Team Leader or Champion Admin directly.
Public page
Each Champion is automatically given a public landing page for their organization. On this page, visitors can:
- Donate to your organization's CarePortal Fund. Money donated here is collected in a Fund available to your organization's leaders to use when responding to specific requests.
- Respond to needs associated with the Connecting Churches in your area, or within areas of critical need that have been selected (see Community Champion settings for more information).
- See quick statistics of the impact your organization has had through CarePortal.
Community Champion settings
Each Community Champion can customize their settings. Champion Admins can edit and save your organization's information under the Settings header.
Your organization's information can be added and edited here. Champions also have the ability to upload a logo, which is displayed within the platform as well as on all emails and public-facing pages. To upload a logo:
- Select
Choose File. - Select
Savewhen you're done.
The Default Business/Response Team settings are available here, along with options for email customizations where applicable.
Select the Show + button next to Customize the Areas Your Team Serves to select or deselect specific areas or Connecting Churches your team would like to work with. This includes specific Churches within your area and/or Communities of Critical Need across the country.
The other sections on the Settings tab include:
-
Leaders — Allows you to add or edit your organization's leaders. Select
+ Add New Leaderto add someone. - Teams — Allows you to manage your Response Teams. You can also access this page from the sidebar by selecting the Response Teams tab under Team Management.
Creating a Response Team
When logged in as the Champion Admin, you can add new Response Teams under your organization's umbrella.
There are two places to add a new team: under the Teams header on the Settings tab, or on the Response Teams tab under Team Management in the sidebar.
- Select
+ Add Response Team. - Fill out the name and address of the new Response Team.
- Add a Team Leader by searching for someone who already has a CarePortal account, or select
+to create an account for them. - Select
Submitto finish.
Response Team settings
Once the new team is added, the Champion Admin can edit their team's settings as needed. The settings available for Response Teams are nearly identical to what the Champion can set for the organization as a whole — including which area(s) the team would like to help with. These settings are customizable for each individual Response Team. The Default Response Team settings will apply to all other Response Teams unless further customizations are made.
Adding individual responders
On the Responders tab under Team Management, Champion Admins and Team Leaders can add responders to the team. To add a new responder:
- Select
Add Responder. - Enter the person's information.
Once a new responder account is added, Team Leaders cannot update that responder's contact information.
Upload list of responders
Champion Admins and Team Leaders can upload multiple responders at once using the Upload List button on the Responders tab under Response Teams in the sidebar. If your organization doesn't yet have designated Response Teams, every new responder will be added to your Default Response Team.
When you select Upload List, a pop-up window will walk you through the steps.
If a responder wants to join another Response Team, they can be added using the Edit button, as long as the new team is within the same Champion. The Edit button also allows for different Tier approvals and removal.
If you're a Team Leader adding new responders, the process is the same — you're simply adding responders to your specific Response Team.
Your Champion's CarePortal Fund
Every Champion Response Team has a CarePortal Fund, which enables streamlined fundraising that stays separate from your organization's internal accounts, budgets, or transaction processing costs. This Fund is automatically enabled for all of your Champion's Response Teams and is always available to receive donations.
How can you add money to your Champion CarePortal Fund?
Pre-loading your Champion's CarePortal Fund can be a helpful strategy. There are three ways to do it from within the platform:
Public page
On your Champion's public page, there is a button to donate to your CarePortal Fund via credit or debit card.
You can access the public page via the Custom Links section of your Champion dashboard.
If your Champion has multiple Response Teams, a dropdown menu lets you (or any other donor) select which team the donation is available for.
Transactions tab
On the Transactions tab under Request Management, there is also a button to donate to your CarePortal Fund via credit or debit card. If your Champion has more than one Response Team, you'll be able to choose which team the donated money is available for.
ACH transfer
You can contribute to your Champion CarePortal Fund by linking your bank account and making a secure ACH transfer. Follow these steps:
- Select your name or profile picture in the top right corner of the screen.
- Select
Manage My Profilefrom the dropdown menu. - On your profile page, select
Manage Payment Methods. - In the window that appears, select the
Add Payment Methodtab. - Choose the US Bank Account option and follow the on-screen prompts to securely link your bank account.
Tip: You only need to link your bank account once. Once added, it will be saved as a payment method for future use.
- In the same window, select the
Add Moneytab. - Choose your bank account as the payment method.
- Select your Champion CarePortal Fund from the list of available options.
- Enter the amount you'd like to contribute and complete the transfer.
Check by mail
For larger gifts or grants, please send a check by mail. This helps CarePortal avoid digital transfer fees, ensuring more of your donation goes directly to serving children and families.
- Make the check out to: CarePortal
- Memo line: Your Champion name exactly as listed in CarePortal, followed by "Community Champion Fund" (example: Restoration Community Champion Fund)
- Mail to: 3161 Wyandotte St., Kansas City, MO 64111
Who can designate funds?
Pre-loading the Fund makes it easy for Champion Admins and Team Leaders to direct those funds toward specific CarePortal requests. Once your Fund is pre-loaded, a Champion Admin or Team Leader can designate funds toward an open request by selecting the Champion's CarePortal Fund as the contribution source when responding.
If you prefer not to pre-load your CarePortal Fund, you can use a card to donate to an individual request. For more information, see How to Respond to a CarePortal Request.
What happens to money in a dormant CarePortal Fund?
If there is no activity in a CarePortal Fund for 180 calendar days, CarePortal will use that money to serve the critical needs of vulnerable children and families, and reserves the right to deactivate any CarePortal Fund.
You will be notified on two occasions before any money is moved:
- 150 days of inactivity — first email notification
- 173 days of inactivity — second email notification
Any donation to your CarePortal Fund, or any designation of money from it toward a request, within the past 180 days, will keep the Fund active.
User preferences
To manage how you receive notifications and information through CarePortal, select your profile and then select Manage My Profile and then the Notifications tab at the top of the screen. Here you can sign up to receive CarePortal requests via text message, choose to receive push notifications, emails, or texts for different alerts, or opt out of any listed notifications. Select Save when you're finished.
